Barrel length, throat erosion, and chamber tightness all play a role in influencing pressure and velocity, making firsthand testing vital. Typical loads center around 40- to 50-grain bullets, often varmint-tipped, flat-base designs, using powders such as H4198, IMR-4227, Lil’Gun, or AA1680. Many handloaders report optimal velocity and consistency with Lil’Gun, especially in rifles that benefit from gentler pressure curves and reduced fouling.
